It is important to be aware that long-term use of removable dentures can lead to significant bone resorption – up to 3 mm per year. At such a rate, after just 5 years, implant placement becomes impossible without prior bone reconstruction.
As bone loss progresses, the denture bed changes, requiring regular adjustments.
Additionally, patients often need time to get used to the new denture, and chewing function is not always fully restored.
